Winnebago Micro Minnie vs Jay Feather

These three trailers overlap in size and in the kind of camping they are built for, so the useful comparison is the one made feature by feature and number by number. Here is where the Micro Minnie matches these two and where it pulls ahead, using what each builder publishes.
Winnebago Micro Minnie and Jayco Jay Feather Air side by side
Both trailers come off the line with a 200-watt roof solar panel and a 30-amp charge controller. Winnebago builds Azdel composite into 1.5-inch fiberglass sidewalls; Grand Design's Imagine uses fully laminated, aluminum-framed sidewalls with rigid foam insulation (R-7) and a gel-coated fiberglass exterior.
Winnebago puts a 3-burner cooktop in the Micro Minnie, so you can run a skillet, a pot, and a kettle at the same time instead of cooking in shifts. Winnebago also makes 12-volt tank pad heaters standard on fully enclosed holding tanks, so your tanks keep working on a frosty Utah morning without you adding anything. Jayco lists 120V heated tank pads under options on the Jay Feather Air.

Towing weights next to the Grand Design Imagine XLS
This is the clearest separation of the three. The Micro Minnies we have in stock list dry weights from 3,976 to 4,502 pounds, and GVWRs of 5,500 to 6,000 pounds. Grand Design publishes unloaded vehicle weights on the Imagine XLS from 4,945 to 6,313 pounds, with GVWRs from 6,395 to 7,995 pounds.
Hitch weight follows the same pattern. Micro Minnie in-stock units list hitch weights from 158 to 478 pounds, while Imagine XLS floorplans list hitch weights of roughly 525 to 664 pounds.
Size works in the Micro Minnie's favor too. Our in-stock units run from about 22 ft 4 in (22.33 ft) to 23 ft 11 in (23.92 ft) long, and they stand 10 ft 5 in tall or less. Imagine XLS floorplans run out to 29 ft 9 in and up to 10 ft 10 in.
Inside the Micro Minnie: kitchen, lounge, storage, and roof

The galley has solid surface countertops, plus that 3-burner cooktop and a convection microwave.

Up front, interior height runs 6 ft 4 in, so most people stand up straight instead of ducking. The optional EZ-Glide Sofa Sleeper comes with a hutch and table, giving you a place to eat, work, and an extra bed at night. Winnebago also includes a JBL Aura Cube entertainment center with JBL premium interior speakers, so music and movies sound like more than a dash radio.

Outside, there is exterior pass-through storage for the chairs, the hoses, and the fishing gear you do not want tracking through the living room. Thick-core slam latch doors are standard. Cargo capacities on our in-stock units are listed from 1,209 to 1,928 pounds, which is real room for water, gear, and food before you hit the limit. JBL premium exterior speakers round out the patio.

The roof is fully walkable and comes with a roof ladder, so you can get up there yourself to check seals or clear pine needles. That is also where the 200-watt solar panel lives. Underneath, the underbelly is fully enclosed with radiant foil insulation. If you camp in July in the desert, the 15,000 BTU air conditioner upgrade is worth asking about.

Frequently asked questions
How does the Micro Minnie compare on towing weight to the Imagine XLS?
Our in-stock Micro Minnies list dry weights from 3,976 to 4,502 pounds, hitch weights of up to 478 pounds, and GVWRs of 5,500 to 6,000 pounds. Grand Design publishes Imagine XLS unloaded weights from 4,945 to 6,313 pounds, hitch weights from 525 to 664 pounds, and GVWRs from 6,395 to 7,995 pounds.
Does the Winnebago Micro Minnie come with solar from the factory?
Yes. Every Micro Minnie includes a 200-watt roof solar panel and a 30-amp charge controller. The Jay Feather Air and the Imagine XLS both publish the same 200-watt panel and 30-amp controller setup, so solar is a wash among the three and the decision comes down to the other details.
Is the Micro Minnie set up for cold Utah nights?
It is built with cold in mind. The holding tanks are fully enclosed with 12-volt tank pad heaters as standard equipment, which helps keep your water and waste systems usable when temperatures drop. The underbelly is fully enclosed with radiant foil insulation, and the sidewalls are 1.5 inch thick fiberglass with Azdel Onboard composite paneling. On the Jay Feather Air, heated tank pads appear on Jayco's options list rather than as standard equipment.
