2025 Keystone Redwood 401LK Walkthrough

Hitching up the 2025 Keystone Redwood 401LK

Everything about this trip starts at the truck. The 2025 Keystone Redwood 401LK is a full-profile fifth wheel that runs 42 feet 10 inches long, 8 feet wide and 13 feet 6 inches tall, so the first thing we do on the lot is talk numbers. Dry weight is 15,676 pounds, GVWR is 19,500, and pin weight is 3,554 pounds. That's a one-ton truck conversation, and we'd rather have it standing next to the rig than after you've bought it.

Underneath, it rides on a pair of 8,000-pound axles with 17.5-inch tires, and the whole chassis is Keystone's Falcon Integrated Technology (FIT 3.0) system. A tire pressure monitoring system comes standard, so pressures and temps report to you while you're climbing Parleys or running down toward Moab instead of being something you find out about on the shoulder. The 3,824 pounds of cargo capacity is real-world useful on a coach this size, and it's rated to pull 3,000 pounds behind it.

Coupling and uncoupling is done with power landing gear. Front and rear jacks are both powered, which matters when you're setting up at 13 and a half feet of height and you want the slide rooms sitting level before anything else happens.

Pulling in and setting up

Once you're in the site, you're on 50-amp service, which is what four slides, 30,000 BTU of air conditioning and a residential appliance package want to see. Power control runs through a Vegatouch capacitive touchscreen system, so jacks, lighting and tank levels are read from one panel rather than six switches in four places.

The awning is 18 feet of electric, adjustable cover with LED lighting built into it, so you can pitch it to shed afternoon sun and still have usable light under it after dark. A quad-slide side awning package is available if you want more of the rig shaded.

Water hookup is straightforward. There's an on-demand water heater, a water manifold feeding residential PEX lines (every run labeled and shut off in one place), and an On The Go water softener, which is the one piece of gear Utah campers thank us for later given what comes out of some of the taps around here. If you're boondocking instead, fresh capacity is 50 gallons, grey is 80 and black is 88, and there's a Go Power! dual-input solar hookup wired for both roof and sidewall panels. Two 30-pound LP bottles and a 35,000 BTU furnace handle shoulder-season nights in the Uintas.

Camp chairs, hoses, firewood and the dog crate all go into pass-through storage, which you can load from either side and unload without crawling.

Cooking and eating

The outdoor kitchen is the first stop on arrival day, because nobody wants to heat up the inside of a coach to make lunch. Inside, the galley is built around an upgraded stove with multi-BTU burners (four of them) and a 3.7 cubic foot oven, so a Dutch oven and a sheet pan can share the same meal. Convection cooking is on board as well. A dishwasher is available if you want one.

The residential refrigerator is the appliance that changes how you shop for a trip. You buy groceries like you do at home, in the quantities you actually use, instead of planning around a small RV box and a cooler in the truck bed.

The slide rooms are floored in HyperDeck marine-grade material, which is the surface that takes the most abuse from wet shoes and spilled anything on a four-slide coach.

The evening

With center living and rear entertainment, the lounge is a room rather than a hallway. The living-area television is a 4K Smart HDTV with Roku built in, so you're logging into your own accounts on campground Wi-Fi rather than hunting for a streaming stick. A Winegard Air 360+ V2 is on the roof with nationwide 4G LTE data plans available through it.

Lighting runs on dimmer switches, so the room goes from card-game bright to movie dark without unplugging lamps, and there's a wireless Qi charging station for phones. Climate is handled by a Coleman-Mach Q Series air conditioner, the quiet one, paired with the Blade Pure Airflow System and MERV 9 filtration. That combination adds cooling capacity, filters the air and dampens sound, which you notice most at 2 a.m. when the compressor cycles.

Sleeping

The center bedroom is set up with a king bed on a MorRyde bed tilt system, so the mattress lifts on a gas-strut frame and the storage underneath is reachable without wrestling the whole platform. There's a 39-inch LED HDTV in the bedroom.

Closet space is laid out for people who stay put for a while, hanging and folded both.

This floorplan has two full baths, including the center bath, with a standard shower. Two baths on a coach that sleeps four is the kind of math that makes mornings quick.

Morning and packing up

A stacked washer and dryer means a week on the road doesn't end with a laundromat stop in Price. Run a load while you're having coffee, then start closing up.

Packing up is the reverse of setup and it's mostly done from the touchscreen: slides in, power jacks up, awning retracted. Tank capacities of 80 grey and 88 black mean you're dumping on your schedule, not every other morning. Then hitch, confirm the tire monitors are reading, and go.

If you've been shopping Keystone fifth wheels and keep landing back on full-time-capable floorplans, this one is worth measuring your truck against. It's a new fifth wheel built with the Redwood Full-Time Living Package, Parks Package and residential appliances as standard equipment.

Frequently asked questions

What kind of truck do I need to tow this?

Pin weight is 3,554 pounds and GVWR is 19,500, so you're looking at a properly rated one-ton pickup with payload to spare after passengers and gear. Bring your door-jamb sticker and we'll do the math with you.

What is a pin box on a fifth wheel?

It's the structure at the front of the trailer that carries the kingpin and drops into the hitch in your truck bed. On a coach with a 3,554-pound pin weight, that connection is carrying real load, which is why it's worth inspecting at every hookup.

How many slides does this floorplan have, and does that affect setup?

Four. Plan your site so all four have room to extend, and level with the power jacks before you run them out.

Can it run off-grid?

It carries 50 gallons of fresh water, two 30-pound LP tanks and a 35,000 BTU furnace, plus a Go Power! dual-input solar hookup for roof or sidewall panels if you want to add solar.

Is this a good option if I'm shopping fifth wheels for sale in Utah and want to live in it full time?

It's built with the Redwood Full-Time Living Package and Parks Package, 50-amp service, two full baths and a stacked washer and dryer, which is the equipment list long stays ask for.

Come walk through it at our Millcreek lot and we'll run the slides out and show you how it sets up, or look through the photos and specs on the live listing first.
