2026 Encore ROG 14RKB Walk-Around

Walking up to a 2026 Encore ROG 14RKB

Stand at the tongue of this thing and the first reaction is usually the same: it's small. 17 feet 4 inches end to end, 7 feet tall on the outside, 7 feet 11 inches wide. That's a trailer that fits in a lot of driveways and doesn't turn your side mirrors into a liability on a two-lane canyon road. Dry weight is 2,283 pounds with 362 pounds of hitch weight, which puts it inside the range of a lot of half-tons and plenty of mid-size SUVs, so you're not shopping for a new tow vehicle before you shop for a trailer.
It rides on a single axle with ST235/75R15 tires, and Encore includes a tire pressure monitoring system so you're watching pressures and temps on the climb up Parleys or the long drop into Price instead of guessing. The chassis and frame are aluminum. The sidewalls are high-gloss fiberglass over an Azdel backer rather than wood, the floor is one piece of composite, and the roof is one-piece fiberglass that Encore calls Impact-Guard. That matters more here than it does in a mild climate. Utah hail, Utah UV and the freeze-thaw cycle in a Millcreek driveway are what kill roofs and delaminate walls, and there's no lauan sandwich in this one to soak up water.

The whole shell is built with what Encore calls Tri-Bond 360 construction and Vapor Bond insulation. Up top there's a roof rack system with a front wind deflector, so paddleboards and a cargo box go overhead without you building a rack yourself or towing a parachute.

A quick note on the tongue: there's a tongue jack up front, and under the frame there's amber under-glow accent lighting that's genuinely useful when you're leveling in a dark dispersed site off the Mirror Lake Highway at 9 p.m.

Storage and the outdoor kitchen

Pass-through storage is the feature that makes a small travel trailer livable. Camp chairs, a generator, firewood, leveling blocks and ski boots all have to live somewhere, and the pass-through here swallows the bulky stuff so it isn't riding on the dinette.

This one is equipped with an outdoor kitchen, which changes how you use the trailer. Breakfast happens outside at Antelope Island, dinner happens outside at Flaming Gorge, and the inside stays clean and smoke-free. Encore also builds in an exterior flip-down griddle table, so there's a real surface for a griddle or a camp stove instead of balancing it on a cooler lid.
Through the door

Be clear-eyed about one number: interior height is 4 feet 5 inches. This is a low-profile trailer. You sit, you lounge, you sleep, you cook, and you step outside to stand up. In exchange you get a 7-foot exterior height that tows like it isn't there, parks under a lot of carports and doesn't catch crosswind on I-80 west of the lake.

Inside, the cabinets are Encore's all-aluminum "Forever Cabinets," and the ceiling is one piece of interior fiberglass. Nothing in there is particleboard waiting to swell. The dinette is where you eat, play cards and watch the rain, and Encore rates this floorplan to sleep four.

The kitchen runs a two-burner cooktop and a 6 cubic foot 12-volt refrigerator. That 12-volt fridge is the detail worth slowing down on. It runs off the battery bank instead of propane, which means it keeps working while you tow, it keeps working in a dusty dispersed site, and you're not relighting anything at 8,000 feet.
Power, water, and October nights

Here's where this floorplan earns its keep as a dry-camping rig. There's 200 watts of solar on the roof and a 100 amp-hour lithium battery under it, charged through a 50-amp MPPT controller, plus a 70-amp converter with a smart battery charger for when you're on shore power. Service is 30-amp, and air conditioning is 11,000 BTU, which is the right size for a box this small when you're parked at a KOA in July.

Fresh water is 43 gallons, with 30 gallons of grey and 30 of black. For two people, that's a genuinely long weekend in the San Rafael Swell without hunting for a spigot, and a tank monitoring system on the control panel tells you where you actually stand instead of making you guess.

The furnace is 18,000 BTU off a single 20-pound LP tank. Utah shoulder season is the real test here, and 18,000 BTU in a trailer this size recovers fast when it drops into the 20s overnight near Capitol Reef in late October. There's also a 12-volt deluxe MaxxAir roof vent with a remote, so you can pull hot air out at the end of a hot day or leave it cracked in the rain.

The bathroom has a standard shower with an aluminum shower pan and an EVA foam mat, which is a nicer thing to stand on than bare plastic.

Outside, the awning is a powered 270-degree unit. That's not a small upgrade on a trailer this short. A 270 wraps around and roughly doubles your usable shade, which turns a 17-foot trailer into a much bigger camp at Sand Hollow where there's no tree within a mile.
Cargo capacity is listed at 2,117 pounds, so a lightweight travel trailer here doesn't mean you have to weigh your groceries. Load water, gear, firewood and a generator and you still have room.
If you've been looking at a new travel trailer and getting quoted tow vehicles you don't own, this is one of the easier travel trailers for sale in Utah to say yes to.
Frequently asked questions
What can tow it?
Dry weight is 2,283 pounds with 362 pounds of hitch weight. Plenty of half-ton trucks and mid-size SUVs handle that comfortably, but check your specific vehicle's tow rating and tongue weight limit against those numbers and add what you plan to load.
How many people does it sleep?
Encore rates this floorplan to sleep four.
Can I boondock in it?
That's what the 14RKB is set up for. You've got 43 gallons of fresh water, 200 watts of roof solar, a 100 amp-hour lithium battery, and a 12-volt refrigerator that doesn't need propane to stay cold.
Can I stand up inside?
No. Interior height is 4 feet 5 inches, so this is a sit-and-lounge interior with a 7-foot exterior height that tows and stores easily.
Does it have slides?
No slides on this floorplan, which means fewer seals to maintain and nothing to deploy before you can use the trailer at a trailhead pullout.
