2026 Forest River Stealth 4017GX Walk-Around

Walking up to the 2026 Forest River Stealth 4017GX

Park a 45-foot fifth wheel next to anything else on our Millcreek lot and it makes an impression. The 2026 Forest River Stealth 4017GX stands 13 feet 6 inches tall, 8 feet 6 inches wide, rides on three slide-outs, and sleeps eight. Before we even open a door, consider what those numbers mean for a Utah buyer, because this is a big rig with a big job description: haul the machines, sleep the family, and stay out in the desert for a week without a hookup in sight.
The numbers at the pin

Dry weight is 15,674 pounds and the GVWR is 21,000, which leaves 5,326 pounds of cargo capacity. That's your side-by-side or pair of dirt bikes, your fuel, your water, your gear, and still room to breathe. Hitch weight comes in at 3,765 pounds, and that's the number to check against the payload sticker in your truck's door jamb, not the tow rating on the brochure. Pin weight sits on your rear axle, and it's the figure that decides whether the climb up Parleys on I-80 or the long pull over Soldier Summit on US-6 feels controlled or nervous. Get it right and this trailer tows like it's supposed to.

Around the front, the pass-through storage is where the tie-downs, leveling blocks, hoses and the fifty pounds of miscellaneous junk every family accumulates end up living. Being able to load from either side instead of crawling over your machines in the garage is the kind of thing you appreciate at nine at night when you're setting up at Little Sahara in the wind.
Off-grid: 600 watts of solar and 150 gallons of fresh

This is where the Stealth earns its money in Utah. There's a 600-watt solar system on the roof (the upgrade that adds two more 200-watt panels), so you're putting real amp-hours back in the batteries on the kind of blue-sky days we get at the dunes, at Five Mile Pass, or out past Knolls. Combine that with 150 gallons of fresh water, 120 gallons of grey and 80 gallons of black, and a long weekend turns into a long week. Most of the places worth riding in this state have no power pedestal and no spigot, and a new toy hauler that can't dry camp isn't much use here.

The monitor panel is where you check all of it: tank levels, systems, the stuff you want to glance at before you go to bed rather than discover at six in the morning. A 6.0 NPS generator is also available if you want a guaranteed power source for cold mornings and cloudy stretches, which the Uintas will hand you in October.

Outside the living area you've got a 10-foot-10 awning for shade over your camp chairs, and this floorplan gives you two entry doors, meaning the people tracking sand and grease in from the garage side aren't walking past the dinette to do it. On a rig this long, two doors changes the whole flow of a weekend.

Inside: center kitchen, center living

Step in and the center kitchen is the heart of it, built around a kitchen island. The island is the difference between one person cooking and the whole family standing around the food. It's prep space, it's serving space, it's where the kids do homework or somebody cleans a fuel filter on a towel. In a coach this size, that island is the gathering spot.

The refrigerator gives you the capacity to actually provision for a week, which matters when the nearest store is forty minutes of washboard away.

Center living puts the seating and dinette in the middle of the coach, between the sleeping end and the cargo end. That's a deliberate layout: the noise stays in the middle, the bedroom stays quiet, and nobody is stepping over the couch to get anywhere.
Front bath, front bedroom

The front bath is a walk-through, and that's a bigger deal than it sounds. You get a real private bathroom with its own shower, and you get through it to the bedroom without a hallway shuffle, plus a second access point so the bath isn't hostage to whoever's getting dressed.

The front bedroom is built around a king bed. If you're six feet tall and you've spent years folding into a short queen, this is the upgrade you'll notice first, especially on a cold Uinta night when everybody's under two blankets and nobody wants to move.
The cargo end

At the far end is what makes this a Forest River toy hauler and not just a very nice fifth wheel: the garage, with rear entertainment so the space does double duty as a hangout when the machines are outside. A Garage Package and a three-season rear patio door are available, and the patio door in particular is worth a look. It turns the cargo space into a covered deck with a view, which is a very good place to be at the end of a riding day in the San Rafael Swell.
If you've been shopping for a toy hauler for sale in Utah that can carry the machines, sleep eight, and still run off the sun for days at a time, this floorplan is the one to walk through in person. Bring your truck's payload number with you and we'll do the math together.
Frequently asked questions
What is a fifth wheel toy hauler?
It's an RV that hitches to a pin box in your truck bed rather than a bumper hitch, and it includes a cargo garage for machines and gear. The 4017GX is that idea at full scale: 45 feet, three slides, sleeps eight, with living space and a garage in one coach.
How much can it carry?
Cargo capacity is 5,326 pounds, the difference between the 15,674-pound dry weight and the 21,000-pound GVWR. That figure covers your machines, fuel, water, food and gear together, so weigh what you're loading rather than guessing.
Can it dry camp at the dunes without hookups?
Yes. It carries 150 gallons of fresh water, 120 gallons of grey and 80 gallons of black, and has a 600-watt solar system on the roof. A 6.0 NPS generator is also available if you want backup power.
What truck do I need?
Start with the 3,765-pound hitch weight and the 21,000-pound GVWR, then check your truck's payload sticker and rear axle rating. Those two numbers, not the advertised tow rating, decide if you're set up correctly for Utah grades.
Come see this floorplan in person at our Millcreek lot in Salt Lake City. Walk the island, sit in the living area, and lie down on the king bed before you decide. You can also check the live listing for current photos and details on the unit we have available.
