Outside Storage and Setup on the 2026 KZRV Durango 283RLT

Start outside, because the 2026 KZRV Durango 283RLT is sized to haul real gear without turning into a monster trailer. It measures 32.92 feet long, 8 feet wide and 12.33 feet tall, rides on two axles, and carries a GVWR of 11,500 pounds against a dry weight of 9,490. That leaves 2,010 pounds of cargo capacity, which is what you actually load the chairs, tools, food and firewood into.

Pass-through storage runs across the front of the chassis, so the long stuff (camp chairs, leveling blocks, a folding table) slides in from either side instead of getting wedged in sideways.

Hitch weight is 1,580 pounds, so the front jack does serious work every time you drop it. Same with the stabilizer jacks at the corners: get them planted and the coach stops rocking when somebody walks through it.

One awning covers the main entry side, and a second LED lighted power awning is available if you want shade on both sides of the coach. The exterior control panel keeps the switches and monitors in one spot.

Up top there's 400 watts of solar feeding a 2,000-watt inverter. That's enough to keep the lights, the fans and the small plug-in things running on a dry weekend without listening to a generator. Fresh water holds 55 gallons, with 50 gallons each of grey and black, so your tanks and your battery bank run down at roughly the same pace.

The Kitchen

The kitchen is laid out for somebody who actually cooks, not just reheats. Counter space is the first thing you'll notice walking in, and with three slide rooms opening up, the galley isn't fighting the dinette or the sofa for floor space.

The refrigerator sits where you can get into it without blocking the aisle, which matters more than it sounds like when two people are making breakfast and somebody needs the milk. Overhead cabinets and base storage take the dry goods, and there's room to set a cutting board down.

If you'd rather have a hard surface and real seating than a booth, a legless table with four chairs is available in place of the dinette. It's a common swap for couples who use the table as a workspace during the week.

Living and Dining

This is the room the triple slides were built for, and it's where a new fifth wheel earns its keep on a long trip. With all three slides out you get a genuine walk-around living space instead of a hallway with furniture pushed against it.

The dinette seats the family for dinner and doubles as the card table, the laptop desk and the place everybody drops their phone to charge. Sleeping capacity for the floorplan is five.

A second ducted 15,000 BTU air conditioner is available if you camp in Southern Utah in July or spend summers somewhere humid. The KZ Advantage and Convenience packages are also on the option sheet if you want to load it up.

The Bedroom

The bedroom is separated from the living space, which is the whole reason people step up to a fifth wheel from a travel trailer. Close the door and the sound of somebody watching a movie in the main room drops way off.

Closet storage is real hanging space, not a token cubby. If you're the kind of camper who keeps clothes in the coach between trips instead of packing a duffel every Friday, this is where that happens.

The Bathroom

The bath is a full one, and it's laid out so two adults can get ready in the morning without taking turns in the doorway. Shower, toilet and sink, all with enough elbow room to dry off standing up.

There's storage under and around the vanity for towels and toiletries, and the 50-gallon grey and 50-gallon black tanks mean you're not rationing showers after two nights off the hookups. A power vent fan is available for the bathroom if you want the steam pulled out faster.

Towing It

Loaded to the 11,500-pound GVWR with 1,580 pounds riding on the pin, this is a three-quarter-ton truck trailer for most people, and plenty of owners pull it with a one-ton. Do the math on your own truck's payload before you shop, not after, because the pin weight lands in the bed and eats payload before passengers and gear do.

A CURT 5.2K touring coil spring suspension with four shocks and anti-lock brakes is available if you tow a lot of miles or a lot of mountain grades. It's worth asking about if your route includes Parleys or Sardine regularly.

If you've been looking at fifth wheels for sale in Utah and keep running into either cramped 28-footers or 40-foot rigs that need a dually, this length is the middle ground a lot of shoppers are after.

Frequently Asked questions

What is the pin box on a fifth wheel?

The pin box is the structure at the front of the coach that holds the kingpin and drops into the hitch mounted in your truck bed. On this floorplan it carries 1,580 pounds of hitch weight, and that number is what you subtract from your truck's payload rating.

How much truck do I need to tow this floorplan?

Go by the numbers: 11,500 pounds GVWR and 1,580 pounds of pin weight at dry, with that pin number climbing as you load the 2,010 pounds of cargo capacity. Most buyers land on a three-quarter-ton or one-ton pickup, and your truck's payload sticker is the deciding factor.

Can it camp off hookups?

Yes. It comes with 400 watts of roof solar and a 2,000-watt inverter, plus 55 gallons of fresh water and 50 gallons each of grey and black holding capacity.

How many people does it sleep?

Five.

Can I get a second air conditioner?

A second ducted 15,000 BTU unit is available, along with a second LED lighted power awning and a power vent fan for the bath.

You'll find this floorplan at Motor Sportsland in Millcreek, right here in Salt Lake City. Come walk the rooms yourself, open the closet, sit at the dinette and see how the slides change the space, and check the live listing for current photos and details before you drive over.
