2026 KZRV Durango 286BHD Walk-Around

Walking up to the 2026 KZRV Durango 286BHD

Park next to this one on our Millcreek lot and the first thing you notice is that it's a real family rig: 33.58 feet of fifth wheel, two slides, and a bunkhouse layout that sleeps 10. The 2026 KZRV Durango 286BHD is built by KZ for people who want a new fifth wheel they can actually live in for a week or a season, not just a weekend, and a lot of what makes that true is on the outside before you ever open the door.
Start with the roof, because in Utah it does most of the suffering. It's Tufflex roofing by Dicor with a lifetime warranty, and there are two attic vents up there to keep hot air moving instead of cooking your ceiling at 95 degrees in a Moab parking lot. The walls are R-13, the roof and floor are R-38, and the whole thing is part of an all-weather insulation package meant for full-time living. The underbelly is heated, insulated and enclosed, with foil in the floor, roof, front and rear. That combination is what lets you stay out past October in the Uintas without watching your water lines every night.
There are two awnings, which matters more than it sounds. One shades your camp chairs and one covers the outside kitchen, so nobody's flipping pancakes in full sun on a July afternoon at Bear Lake. That outside kitchen has a griddle, a sink, a refrigerator and overhead cabinets, so the mess and the smell stay outdoors and the kids stop tracking through the coach every ten minutes.

Underneath, the pass-through storage swallows camp chairs, leveling blocks, fishing gear and the sleds you'll forget to take out until March.

Through the door

Step inside and the interior reads modern farmhouse: cabinetry with that clean, squared-off look, solid-surface countertops, a stainless steel sink and stainless appliances. It doesn't feel like a rental. The kitchen is set up to cook real food, with a 30-inch convection microwave plus a 24-inch oven and a four-burner range. Sunday dinner for eight people happens here without you hauling half of it home to reheat.

There's refrigeration built in, and if you want the big one, an 18 cubic foot residential refrigerator with a slide-out freezer drawer is available. Worth asking about if you shop for a week at a time instead of running to the store from the campground.

The living area centers on a Smart LED TV with a JBL 2.0 soundbar and Bluetooth, plus Smart TVs in the coach so the movie night argument has more than one solution. Theater seating with USB ports, heat, massage and power recline is available in place of the standard sofa if that's how you want to spend an evening after a day on the Mirror Lake Highway.

Running the whole thing is KZ Engage powered by OneControl with a 5-inch screen. Lights, tanks, and systems all live on one panel, which means you check your grey level from inside instead of crawling around outside with a flashlight in the cold.
The bunkhouse

This is why most people are standing here. A bunkhouse fifth wheel earns its keep when you've got kids, grandkids, or a couple of friends' kids along for a trip, and the sleeping count on this floorplan is 10. The bunks give the younger crowd their own space to read, play cards and go to bed at a different hour than the adults.

The bathroom has stainless steel sinks, a porcelain foot-flush toilet and a fiberglass shower stall. Foot-flush matters with kids, and the fiberglass stall cleans up fast after a dusty day in the San Rafael Swell.

Sleeping quarters include a king size bed as standard, which is the size most buyers assume they have to upgrade to and don't here. Closet space is real closet space, so clothes hang instead of living in a duffel on the bed all week.
Weights, tanks and Utah roads
Dry weight is 9,400 pounds with 2,100 pounds of cargo capacity, so you can load food, water, gear and bikes without immediately running out of room on paper. Bring your truck's numbers when you come in and we'll walk through payload and pin weight together, because a fifth wheel puts its weight in the bed, not on a ball. Exterior height is 12.42 feet, which is the number to remember for your garage at home, drive-throughs and older overpasses. If you want more chassis under it, a CURT 5.2K touring coil spring suspension with four shocks and anti-lock brakes is available, and on the long grade coming down Parleys or heading out of Price, brakes that respond well are worth the conversation.
For dry camping, you've got 55 gallons of fresh water, 90 gallons of grey and 50 gallons of black. The grey capacity is the useful part, since showers and dishes are what usually send people back to a dump station first. There's a 400-watt solar setup with a 2,000-watt inverter, so a weekend in the Swell or out past Delta doesn't have to mean generator noise all day. A second 15,000 BTU ducted air conditioner is available if you spend August in St. George, along with the KZ Advantage and Convenience packages.

Among the fifth wheels for sale in Utah, this one is aimed squarely at the family that camps hard and stays out longer than the forecast suggests.
