2026 Winnebago Thrive 22MBH Walk-Around

Walking up to the 2026 Winnebago Thrive 22MBH

The first thing you notice standing beside this one on our Millcreek lot is how little of it there is to be scared of. Twenty-six feet, 11 feet 4 inches tall, eight feet wide. A tandem-axle bunkhouse travel trailer that doesn't need a dually to make sense. That's the whole pitch for the 2026 Winnebago Thrive 22MBH, and it holds up once you start opening doors.

Exterior side

Start at the tongue. There's a power tongue jack, so hitching up in a parking lot at Jordanelle with a crosswind is a button press, not a crank. Underneath it all is the BAL NXG chassis with Dexter EZ Lube axles and 10-ply tires rated to 87 MPH, which matters more in Utah than most places because you're running I-15 at speed and then dragging it up Parleys with heat in the sidewalls.

The sidewalls are fiberglass over Azdel composite substrate instead of wood backer, the roof is a one-piece TPO membrane, and there's radiant foil insulation in the build. Translation for an October trip to the Uintas: less thermal transfer, and no lauan to swell if moisture ever finds a seam. There's an exterior ladder for roof access, front radius profile lights, aluminum wheel assemblies, and a 2-inch accessory receiver for a bike rack or a cargo tray.

Thrive 22MBH — pass through storage
Pass through storage

There's pass-through storage, so gear doesn't have to ride in the truck bed with the dogs. Power stabilizer jacks at both ends mean you're not hunting for the crank handle in the dark at a dispersed site off the Mirror Lake Highway.

Awning

Out on the awning side, the 17-foot power awning has LED lighting underneath, and the JBL Bluetooth sound system feeds exterior speakers as well as the ones inside. There's an exterior LP quick connect for a griddle or a fire pit, two LP tanks, and an outside kitchen so the burgers and the fish stay out of the coach.

What it takes to tow it

Dry weight is 5,822 pounds with a 780-pound hitch weight, and the GVWR is 7,000. That leaves 1,178 pounds of cargo capacity, which is real usable number for a family: water, food, bikes, firewood and the bin of camp junk that somehow weighs 200 pounds by itself. A properly equipped half-ton with a weight distributing hitch handles this comfortably, and plenty of mid-size trucks and larger SUVs will too once you check your own door-jamb numbers. Loaded near GVWR you're still a long way under what a 1500 can pull up Sardine Canyon without the transmission screaming.

Step through the entry door and the interior is the Modern Luxe decor. Residential recessed ceiling lights overhead, reading lights where you actually read, and blackout roller shades at the windows. That last one is underrated if you camp in summer when the sun hits the Wasatch Front at 6 a.m.

Thrive 22MBH — kitchen
Kitchen

The kitchen is built around an island, so there's prep surface that isn't the dinette table. You get a recessed LP three-burner cooktop with an oven combo, a microwave, and fiberglass countertops with integrated sinks, meaning no seam around the bowl to collect gunk. The pantry is on pull-out shelves, there's a dedicated utensil drawer, and the trash and recycle bins pull out of the cabinetry instead of sitting on the floor where the dog finds them. Every door and drawer is soft close with magnetic catches, so the drive down Big Cottonwood is quieter than you'd expect.

Thrive 22MBH — refrigerator
Refrigerator

The refrigerator is a 10.6 cubic foot 12-volt unit. That's a meaningful spec for how people camp here: 12-volt compressor cooling runs off the battery and the 200-watt solar panel with its 30-amp charge controller, so it keeps working at the trailhead without shore power and without the leveling fussiness of an absorption fridge. There's also a side-mount portable solar plug if you want to set a panel in the sun while the trailer sits in the shade.

Thrive 22MBH — living dinette
Living dinette

The living area has a booth dinette, domestic-built furniture, and a Smart TV for the entertainment setup. The slide floor is carpetless, which is the right call when everyone's tracking in red dirt from the San Rafael Swell.

Thrive 22MBH — bunk
Bunk

Sleeping capacity is five. Two bunks handle the kids, and they're sized for actual sleeping rather than gear storage, though they'll do double duty on a short trip.

Thrive 22MBH — bedroom
Bedroom

The bedroom runs a Murphy bed with a 66-by-80 Olympic Queen mattress, so you get a full-size bed at night and the floor back during the day. That's the trick that makes a 26-foot trailer livable for a week instead of a weekend. Closet and wardrobe storage is built in alongside it.

Thrive 22MBH — bathroom
Bathroom

The bath sits at the rear with a 14-by-22 skylight over the shower, which buys headroom for anyone over six feet and a lot more daylight than a vent fan alone. Hot water comes from a tankless water heater, so the second and third showers are as warm as the first.

Cold-weather and dry-camping numbers: a 30,000 BTU furnace, heated and enclosed holding tanks, 60 gallons of fresh water with 49 gray and 49 black. Sixty gallons is roughly four or five days for a family that's careful, which lines up with a long weekend on BLM ground near Moab before you need a dump station. Cooling is a 15,000 BTU ducted roof A/C on 30-amp service, ducted so it isn't just blasting one spot in the ceiling.

If you've been shopping a new travel trailer and keep landing between "too small for the kids" and "too heavy for my truck," this is the floorplan that splits the difference. It's one of the more sensible Winnebago travel trailer layouts we've had on the lot.

Frequently asked questions

How many people does this floorplan sleep?

Five. The queen Murphy bed, the two bunks, and the booth dinette cover it.

What truck do I need to tow it?

Dry weight is 5,822 pounds with a 780-pound hitch weight and a 7,000-pound GVWR, so a properly equipped half-ton pickup with a weight distributing hitch is a comfortable match. Check your own vehicle's tow rating and payload before you commit.

Can I dry camp in it?

Yes. It carries 60 gallons of fresh water, has a 200-watt solar panel with a 30-amp charge controller, a 12-volt refrigerator, and a side-mount plug for a portable panel.

Will it handle cold nights in the mountains?

The 30,000 BTU furnace, heated and enclosed holding tanks, and radiant foil insulation are all standard, which covers shoulder-season trips to places like the Uintas.

How long is it, and will it fit in a campground?

It's 26 feet long, 8 feet wide, and 11 feet 4 inches tall, which fits most state park and forest service sites in Utah without drama.
