2027 Ember Overland 201FBQ Walk-Around

Walking Up To The 2027 Ember Overland 201FBQ

Overland 201FBQ — exterior side
Exterior side

The first thing you notice on the lot is the stance. The 2027 Ember Overland 201FBQ sits on a Trailblazer heavy-duty off-road tube steel chassis with CURT trailing-arm independent suspension, heavy-duty coil springs and dual shocks at each corner. That's not marketing language you forget on the drive home. Washboard dirt roads out past the San Rafael Swell or the two-track into a dispersed site in the Uintas are exactly where a leaf-sprung trailer starts shaking cabinet doors loose. Two axles, nitro-filled 16-inch Hankook Dynapro AT2 off-road tires, blacked-out aluminum rims. It's 24.08 feet long, 8 feet wide and 10.75 feet tall, which keeps it manageable on narrow canyon pullouts.

Overland 201FBQ — tongue jack

Up at the coupler there's the VersaCoupler height-adjustable bolt-on hitching system with an LED hitch light, so you can set the trailer level behind whatever you tow instead of living with a nose-high ride. There's also a tongue-mounted aluminum gear box for the stuff you don't want in the living space: leveling blocks, hoses, recovery gear. Hitch weight is 585 pounds, which is the number to check against your truck's payload sticker before anything else.

Dry weight is 5,460 pounds with a 7,250-pound GVWR, so you've got 1,790 pounds of cargo capacity to play with. Loaded sensibly, that's well inside what a properly equipped half-ton handles, and it matters on the climbs we actually tow here. US-6 over Soldier Summit, the long pull to Parley's, the grade south toward Scipio. A small travel trailer that weighs this much is easier to live with on a 7 percent downgrade than a longer box that pushes you around.

Overland 201FBQ — awning
Awning

The awning stretches 16 feet, which covers the door and then some. On the Green River in August that's the difference between sitting outside at 3 p.m. and hiding in the air conditioning. Exterior lighting is high-visibility LED, and there's a back-up light for the evenings you're reversing into a site after dark.

Overland 201FBQ — pass through storage
Pass through storage

Storage underneath is pass-through, and Ember runs their repositionable EmberTrack E-Track bunk and storage system so you can strap gear down instead of letting it slide into the walls. Skis, a packraft, a cooler, tool bags. Move the track, change the layout, do it again next season.

Through The Door

MORryde StepAbove composite steps and a Safe-T Rail entry handle get you in without the folding-step clatter. The shell is 6-sided aluminum frame construction with a powder-coated exoskeleton, laminated Azdel composite walls and end walls, and an aluminum roof. Underfoot is the Evermore aluminum-framed composite floor with integrated Alumaduct heating, which runs furnace heat through the floor structure rather than blasting it at your ankles from one register.

Windows are dual-pane acrylic with integrated screens and shades built into the frame, and there's a Stargazer dual-pane acrylic skylight with its own screen and shade. Dual pane earns its keep on an October night at 9,000 feet, when a single-pane window turns into a condensation problem by 2 a.m.

Overland 201FBQ — bedroom
Bedroom

Sleeping capacity is 4. The residential queen Murphy bed measures 60 by 80 inches and folds up over a jack-knife sofa, so the floor space you use during the day isn't dedicated to a mattress you only need at night.

Overland 201FBQ — living dinette
Living dinette

With one slide out, the dinette area opens up enough that two people aren't negotiating around each other. It's a usable place to eat, spread out a map, or run a laptop.

Overland 201FBQ — closet storage
Closet storage

Cabinet doors are soft close hardwood maple with hidden hinges and magnetic latches, and there's hanging storage for the clothes you don't want wadded in a duffel.

Overland 201FBQ — kitchen
Kitchen

The kitchen gets solid surface countertops with a stainless steel sink, which cleans up after a trout dinner better than laminate ever has.

Overland 201FBQ — bathroom
Bathroom

The bath carries the same solid surface counter and stainless sink treatment, and the fire extinguisher is standard.

Power And Water For Dry Camping

Overland 201FBQ — roof solar
Roof solar

This is where an Ember travel trailer separates itself. The roof carries 1,200 watts of solar in six 200-watt panels feeding three Victron Bluetooth MPPT controllers, a 3,000-watt Victron inverter and 270 amp-hours of lithium. There are side and rooftop solar ports for a portable panel when you park in the shade, plus PV and cold weather disconnects. Starlink cable prep is run, so getting a dish connected doesn't mean drilling your own hole. If you've been shopping for a travel trailer with solar that you can actually live off, this is the system to compare others against.

Overland 201FBQ — control panel
Control panel

EmberLink smart RV control handles the systems from your phone, and Tire Linc PRO tire pressure monitoring watches your tires on the interstate before a blowout becomes fender damage.

Fresh water is 55 gallons with 35 gallons each of grey and black, and LP capacity is 40 pounds. Heat and hot water come from a Truma Combi Comfort Plus 20,000 BTU water heater and furnace, cold weather certified to the Gold Standard. Five days off-grid in Capitol Reef in November is a realistic plan, not a stretch.

How The 2027 Compares To The 2026

We stock the 2026 version of this floorplan too. The 2027 spec lists 270 amp-hours of lithium where the 2026 sheet doesn't give a lithium figure, and the 2027 pairs its Truma Combi with a 20,000 BTU rating against the 2026's separately listed 30,000 BTU furnace and 6-gallon gas/electric DSI water heater. The 2026 sheet also spells out a 15,000 BTU A/C, 50-amp service, a 3-burner cooktop, a 10 cubic foot 12V refrigerator, a radius shower, 81-inch interior height and ST225/75R15LRE tires. Both years list 1,200 watts of solar, a 3,000-watt inverter and one slide.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many people does this floorplan sleep?

Four. The 60-inch by 80-inch residential queen Murphy bed folds down over a jack-knife sofa, so you get full-size sleeping without giving up daytime floor space.

What truck do I need to tow it?

Dry weight is 5,460 pounds with a 7,250-pound GVWR and 585 pounds of hitch weight. A correctly equipped half-ton with the payload to carry that tongue weight plus passengers and gear is the honest starting point, so check your door jamb sticker.

Can it really boondock without hookups?

That's what it's built around. 1,200 watts of rooftop solar, three Victron MPPT controllers, a 3,000-watt inverter, 270 amp-hours of lithium, 55 gallons of fresh water and 35 gallons each of grey and black give you real time away from a power pedestal.

How does it handle cold weather?

The Truma Combi Comfort Plus 20,000 BTU water heater and furnace is cold weather certified to the Gold Standard, heat runs through the Alumaduct composite floor, the windows and skylight are dual-pane acrylic with integrated shades, and there are cold weather disconnects on the solar system.

Is it available locally?
