2027 KZRV Sportsmen 130RD Specs & Towing

A walk-around of the 2027 KZRV Sportsmen 130RD
Sixteen and three quarter feet, single axle, 2,690 pounds dry. The 2027 KZRV Sportsmen 130RD is the kind of small travel trailer you can hook up in your driveway without a spotter and still put a real bathroom and a real bedroom behind you. Let's start where every honest walk-around should start, at the tongue.

Towing: what the numbers actually mean
Dry weight is 2,690 pounds. GVWR is 3,500 pounds. The gap between those two is your 810 pounds of cargo capacity, and that covers everything: water, propane, food, camp chairs, the dog's bed. Twenty gallons of fresh water alone is roughly 167 pounds of that, so if you tow full you're spending about a fifth of your payload before you pack a single duffel.
Hitch weight is 270 pounds dry. That's light enough that most receiver hitches and most weight-carrying setups won't blink, but it will climb as you load the forward storage, so weigh it if you're close to your hitch's tongue rating. Overall length is 16.75 feet, exterior width is 7.5 feet and exterior height is 8.92 feet. Write that height down before you plan a route with low overpasses or a garage you were hoping to park it in.
The one number I won't give you is which truck to buy. Look up your own vehicle's tow rating, its tongue weight limit and its payload sticker on the door jamb, because payload is what usually runs out first. Bring the trailer numbers with you and the math takes about two minutes.
Three numbers decide whether this floorplan works for you: the 2,690 lb dry weight, the 3,500 lb GVWR and the 270 lb hitch weight.
The 810 pounds between dry and GVWR is your real packing allowance, and water eats into it fast.
At 16.75 feet overall, it fits campsites and storage spots that turn away longer trailers.

The tongue jack does the lifting at the coupler, and with this little weight on the ball it's a quick job to get level.
Off-grid capacity and climate
Fresh water is 20 gallons. Grey is 32 and black is 26, so the holding tanks are bigger than the supply, which means your dry-camping limit is how much water you brought, not how fast you fill the tanks. Two people who are careful with the faucet can stretch a long weekend out of it. Three people showering daily cannot, so plan on a jug or two in the truck bed.

Power off the grid can come from an optional 200 watt solar panel with a 30 amp MPPT controller, which is enough to keep the battery topped up for lights, the water pump and the furnace fan on a sunny Utah weekend.
Heating is a 20,000 BTU furnace, which is a lot of furnace for a trailer this size and shows up as a fast recovery on a cold morning in the Uintas. Cooling is 13,500 BTU of roof air. One 20 pound LP tank feeds the appliances.

The monitor panel gives you tank levels and system switches in one spot, so you're not guessing at how much fresh water is left.
Sleeping, storage and living space

It sleeps three. The convertible dinette becomes a bed, so the dinette is doing double duty every night you have a third person along, and it's the spot for cards and coffee the rest of the time.

The 130RD has a bedroom as well, shown below.

Outside, there's pass-through storage for the things that should never come inside: leveling blocks, hoses, muddy boots.
The equipment tour

Here's the kitchen.

Cold storage is a 3 cubic foot refrigerator. That's a shop-every-few-days fridge, not a week-of-groceries fridge, and it's honest about what a trailer this size can carry.

The bathroom is pictured below.

Outside there's a 9 foot awning over the door side.

Our sheet on this new travel trailer also lists the KZ Advantage Package, the KZ Convenience Package and a separate No Charge KZ Convenience Package.
If you've been shopping lightweight travel trailers for sale in Utah with a half-ton, a midsize truck or a capable SUV, this is one of the easier ones to make work on paper and in the driveway.
Frequently asked questions
What kind of vehicle can tow this floorplan?
With a 2,690 pound dry weight, a 3,500 pound GVWR and 270 pounds of dry hitch weight, it sits within reach of a lot of trucks and SUVs. Check your own vehicle's tow rating, tongue weight limit and payload sticker rather than going by weight class alone.
How many people does it sleep?
Three. The convertible dinette turns into a bed to add the third sleeping spot.
Does it have a slide-out?
No. It's a no-slide floorplan at 16.75 feet long and 7.5 feet wide, so there's nothing to extend or retract at the campsite.
How long can I dry camp in it?
Fresh water is 20 gallons, with 32 gallons of grey and 26 gallons of black, so water supply is your limit. The optional 200 watt solar panel with its 30 amp MPPT controller handles the electrical side for weekend stays.
Is it set up for cold weather?
The 20,000 BTU furnace is generous for the square footage.
